How To Increase Testosterone

One of the biggest problems in which men never talk about is their dropping testosterone levels.  Many men suffer from low T symptoms, and don’t really realize there are actual tricks on  how to increase testosterone naturally.

It is clearly reported that testosterone levels drop 10% each decade, or 1% a year after age 35.  This gradual nose-dive can lead to a huge decrease in libido, lack of energy/stamina, and mental focus.  Men being men generally keep these symptoms to themselves, and do nothing, but get depressed.

Silently, there is a low testosterone epidemic occurring in the United States right now. How many times have you heard about menopause? A ton. How about andropause for men? Never! Yes, men are experiencing the same pain women feel, and really need to understand the secrets on how to increase testosterone naturally. It is about time we, as a nation, start recognizing low T as a significant challenge for men.

To back what I am implying please refer to the largest study of testosterone of its kind by Travison et al. The study reports a population-wide decline in Massachusett’s men’s testosterone levels during the last 20 years that is not related to normal aging or to health and lifestyle factors known to influence T levels. They found that testosterone concentrations dropped about 1.2% each year, or about 17% overall from 1987 to 2004.  I hope you agree, this is not good! Men are turning into girly-men.

Prescription For A Muscle Strain

Recently, I was attempting my 7th leg squat repetition, and zap – an erector spinae muscle strain, or sprain occurred. This very surprising event forced me to stop immediately, and slowly head home in pain.I think in 25 years of training this is only the second minor injury that I had experienced.

Please be advised, if you workout, there will probably be a time when you suffer from a muscle spain. Heck, you don’t even have to workout, and there is a good chance in your lifetime that you will experience discomfort from a muscle, or joint sprain.

So what should you do if this happens to you? Here is what I did to help my recovery. It took one week, and I was back in the gym.

1. Stop what you are doing! If you strain a muscle you will know it. It has a tendency to talk back. Therefore, don’t tough it out. Stop the exercise immediately.

2. Don’t panic! Stay calm.

3. Head for the ice to begin R.I.C.E. Applying ice immediately after the injury occurs, and up to 48 hours, will significantly assist your recovery by alleviating pain, and reducing swelling. Ice will limit blood flow to the muscle, and help manage some of the discomfort.

You will want to ice the injured area for 15 minutes only, then take 20 minutes off, and ice again for another 15 minutes. You can repeat this cycle for as many times as you like up until 48 hours.

Shocking Obesity Statistics Released

America is getting fatter, unhealthier, and spending more money on health care costs than ever before. The 2008 obesity statistics have just been released. Adult obesity increased in 23 states compared to the previous year. These are alarming numbers; and the United States needs to take immediate action!

American obesity rates are not only affecting adults, but unfortunately children as well. Childhood obesity rates have tripled since 1980. Mississippi has a child obesity, and overweight rate, for kids ages 10-17, of a whopping 44.4%. These alarming numbers equals future trouble! Troubling obesity statistics like these translates into hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and even premature death. Along this these horrible medical conditions, it sure looks like health care spending is only going to get worse if something isn’t done real soon.

It has become so bad that 31 states are now reporting obesity rates over 25%. Just to compare, in 1991, not one single state topped 20%. In 1980 obesity statistics showed an average of 15%.

In the study conducted by the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Mississippi had the greatest adult obesity rate at 32.5%.  Colorado was the leanest at 18.9%.

Check your states obesity statistics.

What is even more alarming is not one state showed a decrease in obesity from the previous year. Childhood obesity is of great concern. Overweight, and obese children turn into unhealthy, at risk adults riddled with bad eating, and physical activity habits formed in their younger years.

What is causing these alarming statistics?

Multivitamins Do Not Prevent Cancer

Taking multivitamins has always been thought to prevent cancer, decrease the chance of heart disease, as well as other unwanted health issues.

The Women’s Health Initiative study (WHI) may have suddenly rained on the hope of supplement users in preventing disease.

The study, published in the Archives Of Internal Medicine, tracked 161,800 post menopausal women for 8 years. The main objective of this multivitamin study was to determine if taking nutritional supplements would decrease the chance of illness such as preventing cancer compared to women who didn’t take multi-vitamins.

The study concluded that taking multivitamins did not prevent cancer, as well as any other unwanted diseases. The individuals who took multivitamins for 8 years had the same cancer rates, heart disease rates, and death rates as those who didn’t take vitamin supplements.

Time To Cut The Salt In Your Diet

Salt, also known as sodium, has long been used to add flavor, and preserve foods. The fact is most Amercians simply ignore the sodium content in foods, especially frozen foods, and condiments. There is a struggle between the food manufacturers, and consumers health. The manufacturers despirately want the consumer to spend their hard earned money on their particular brand of food. They will do whatever it takes to get consumers to buy. That includes adding more sodium in a product to enhance flavor. The loser is the consumer’s health. Read More…
