Is It Good To Be Fit And Fat?

The big question of the day is fit, and fat, or sedentary, and skinny? This exact question was answered today in the Journal of the American Medical Association.  This was the first report to carefully investigate the relationship between body fat, fitness, and death.

There was a 12 year study conducted that showed people 60 years of age, and over, who exercised their cardiovascular system, had lower death rates than those who hardly exercised with the same exact body fat percentage.

So what the study is saying is if you are a bit overweight it is healthier being overweight if you exercise on a regular basis. You are much better to be fit, and overweight, than skinny, and sedentary.

I still stand by my statement that exercise is the best prevention medication you can take.

Fitness level is a strong indication of dealth . Therefore, I urge you to stay consistent on your fitness program (strength training, and cardiovascular).

Maybe, with a report like this, there is hope that the outdated BMI (body mass index) charts start considering body fat percentage, and overall fitness level.
